FAQ
F: Do the headphones bluetooth functions work together with AvMike - and whats about AUX Audio ?
A: The bluetooth path is completely cut off, BOSE does shutdown bluetooth in case of external audio connected via cable - and thats the way we establish our connection to the QCs - BOSE automatically deactivates all bluetooth activities in that case. We can supply cable based AUX Audio-IN ( e.g. Alarms, Signals etc. coming from IPAD etc. ) integrated with AvMike on request and extra-cost - please contact us.
F: Which gooseneck type shall i choose ?
A: For pilots flying small GA planes like a C-172 the standard GA type gooseneck will be the cbest choice, high stiffness makes the mic staying in place even under heavy weather conditions. Airliner pilots are free to choose our less stiff and weight reduced airliner type gooseneck - making it easy to move the mic quickly into a offline position.
F: Which are the plugs i need to choose ?
A: In most cases you go with the regular PJ Dual-Plug connectors, airbus and ATR pilots might find a XLR5 socket in front of them, Cirrus and some PA46 or TBM pilots are facing Lemo-Redel sockets in their cockpits.
F: Does QC35 Version II work with AvMike ?
A: yes 100% - just choose the 35 version, for all other headphone models supported >> please see our shopsystem and checkout the product configurator

F: Is AvMike and the supported headphones suitable for operation in open cockpits, trikes etc. with impact of direct wind-blast
A: not really, this type of headset is made for use in closed cockpits - not optimal for use in direct wind-blast.

F: Which QC25 Subtype works with AvMike ?
A: All QC25 subytpes ( IOS, Android ) perfectly work with AvMike
F: Do you support other headphones beside the BOSE types ?
A: For all headphone models actually supported >> please see our shopsystem and checkout the product configurator - models not listed here : most headphones are mostly lacking higher impedances, have poor ANR or are significantly prone to EMC problems induced by radiation from the cockpit instruments and avionics.
F: Do you offer TSO or ETSO rated products ?
A: AvMike does have a EU - CE product release certificate - that is necessary to bring a product to the EU market. For use as mobile pilot equipment you dont need any TSO or ETSO certificate ... as long as the device is not a fixed part of the aircraft and not listed along the aircrafts part-list. Neither FAA nor EASA do require TSO or ETSO certified headsets if they are part of the pilots personal mobile equipment. On the other hand AvMike does comply to the pure functional requirements specified by the related TSO/ETSO specs.

F: Whats about sidetone Echo problems with BOSE headphones ?
A: There have been reports of echo problems in the sidetone on airliner flight decks—GA/small aircraft are not affected: In some cases, BOSE QC45 or newer BOSE models experience problems with echo effects in the sidetone. This problem is related to the ANR of the BOSE headphones in combination with the audio processing delays of the Airbus/Boeing intercom systems. This effect does not occur continuously and cannot be reproduced everywhere; many professional users on airliners are not affected—but in general, it only affects the newer BOSE models like QC45 and newer. If you want guaranteed trouble-free operation, you should choose Sony XM headphones or older BOSE models such as the QC35 I/II—this problem is guaranteed not to occur here, regardless of which specific model you choose.
